Lowry Woods
Community Forest
Description
The Lowry Woods Community Forest trail is a mellow and scenic walk through a peaceful mix of hardwoods and tall conifers. The path winds through gentle hills, pine groves, and dense forest floor, offering a nice mix of open woods and shaded cover. As you make your way along the trail, you'll catch glimpses of the Neck River flowing quietly alongside, adding a calm, steady rhythm to the hike. Keep an eye out for old stone foundations tucked among the trees and listen for the calls of birds—great horned owls are known to roost here. With well-marked paths and a variety of natural features, it’s a great spot for a quiet solo hike, some birdwatching, or a casual walk with friends or family.

Difficulty

Easy
This trail is in my opinion the flattest in Madison. There are a few small inclines and declines, but they can be avoided by skipping the .16 mile extension on the middle left part of the map. There are virtually no rocks or tree roots along the trails
Recommended Routes

This is an awesome easy loop for any level hiker. The path is a solid width, super flat, and very clear from roots and rocks. A lot of the trail is covered in pine needles and dirt, and since there's not much water it always has great traction.
