Lost Pond Trail

Description

This short trail offers a gentle walk through a managed section of Cockaponset State Forest, leading to Lost Pond, a small vernal pool that appears in spring. The path winds through mixed woodlands, featuring stone walls that hint at the area's agricultural past. Hikers can observe a variety of trees, including beech, red maple, tulip-poplar, black birch, and oak. The trail also passes through areas with dense understory vegetation, providing habitat for local wildlife.
