Keystone Preserve

Description

This quiet loop trail winds through 24 acres of peaceful woodlands, wetlands, and transitional habitat. The path passes by a small pond that draws birds, frogs, and other wildlife, especially in the spring and early summer. Mixed hardwoods like oak, maple, and birch line the trail, and sections of thick understory create natural cover for smaller animals. Occasional stone walls remind hikers of the land’s farming past, while open areas offer clearings filled with seasonal plant life. The preserve is part of a larger network of protected land, creating a continuous stretch of open space that supports biodiversity. It's a gentle walk with a natural, wild feel that gives visitors a chance to slow down and take in the details.

Difficulty

The trail stays level throughout. There aren't many rocks or roots on the trail, and where there are they can be avoided. The trail can get a little muddy when wet, and it gets buggy due to all the stagnate water.

This is a really nice and interactive loop that passes by a few interactive stations and has a nice view of the pond. The route is very flat, wide, and is mostly clear from rocks and roots. The pond has an observation deck binocular box for you to use while you bird watch.
