Bluff Head
Description
This popular loop trail climbs up a traprock ridge and offers one of the best views in the area. The path begins in shaded forest before splitting—one route climbs steeply and directly up rocky switchbacks, while the other follows a more gradual slope along an old fire road. At the top, hikers reach open ledges with panoramic views of North Guilford, surrounding hills, and Meyerhuber Pond. The ridgeline stays exposed for a stretch before looping back through the woods on a gentler descent. The trail is part of the New England Trail system and links with other marked trails for optional extensions. Wildlife and unique ridge-top plant life are common throughout.

Difficulty

Moderate
Difficult
The trail includes a steep, rocky climb at the beginning with uneven footing and exposed rock ledges. The top section runs along cliffs, so hikers should be cautious near the edges. The descent is less steep and easier to navigate. Trail markers are clear, and the full loop is well-maintained.
